There are 29 soldiers named van Wyk on the South Africa Medal roll for that time period. No Ignatius, but there is a Trooper WC van Wyk in the 2nd Cape Yeomanry.

Just a thought - as you live in South Africa, Karytay - have you contacted the local Records Office?
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

I have looked at the National archives, found no military info for him. I was thinking I should contact the museum in Oudtshoorn and George and possible Grahamstown. I have contacted them before concerning someone else and they were very helpful.

Good luck!

I did visit back in 2010 and I remember them being helpful.

Just been looking back over my notes from my 2010 visit - don't forget the Cory Library in Grahamstown.

Oh yes, did forget about them, thanks for the reminder.
I have sent a email to CL Nel museum in Oudtshoorn, so have to wait a see what they say.
