Poppelwell
« on: Thursday 28 October 21 17:08 BST (UK) »
In trying to expand my late wife's birth family tree, I have found a Margaret Jane Ochiltree Sharp who married a Leonard Poppelwell in about the early 1890's.
I am not sure about the spellings of either OCHILTREE or POPPELWELL ,and Sharp may have an "E" in the end.  I think births were registered in Tynemouth
Her mother was also baptised Margaret Jane Ochiltree, but cannot find trace of parents and she is in the 1871 census with Ochiltre family as a niece.
Any hints or pointers to where to look would be appreciated

When , where and under what name was your late wife born,?

Not convinced that you "have" located any marriage if you cannot state the year and place , only "about 1890s".

You also state that a female was baptised under one name; but don't know who the parents were? Do their names not appear on the baptism record??

It's far from clear what information you are working on, and for example when you refer to "her" would that be your wife, the woman who wed Mr popplewell or that second woman's mother?

1886 marriage at St Alban, Earsdon

1923 marriage possibly St George, Cullercoats or St Paul, Cullercoats, now known as a Whitley Bay Church rather than a Cullercoats one.

Think this is the 1871 in question:

John Ocheltrie 55 head
Jane Ocheltrie 52
John               21
William           19
Edward 14
Margaret J Sharp 8 niece born Earsdon Northumberland

If this helps - re the family Margaret was living with in 1871/81 -  I think John Ocheltrie married Jane Appley on 29 Jan 1849 at St. Andrew Church, Newcastle with his father is listed as John Ocheltrie and there is a baptism on 8 Jun 1815 at Newcastle upon Tyne, All Saints for a John Ochiltree with parents John and Margaret.

Possible family in 1841 living at Seaton Deleval all born Northumberlandd  with the occupations as Masons matching John Ocheltrie in later census years

John Ocheltrie 55 Mason
Margaret Ocheltrie 55
John Ocheltrie 25 Mason J
Jane Ocheltrie 20
Charles Ocheltrie 20 Mason Ap

Could Jane in 1841 be the mother of Mary Margaret Jane?? :-\

Kay

Added - Probably unrelated but Jane Sharp of about the right age died the year after Margaret was born  :-\
SHARP, JANE        45
