Would anyone know of Bertram Gordon Theobald who died about 1940 in Sussex, England?  I think he was born in 1871.  He was involved in the Francis Bacon Society in London.

If you have access to British newspapers there are several articles you can read that cover some of the speeches he made to different societies.

Bertram married 1901 to Charlotte Marie Hirch daughter of Carl (Charles) and Sophia Hirch from Germany.
1901 census they are boarding with Sarah Makins age 64 (my assumption his grandmother) or someone connected to his mothers family. I did not research.

The marriage did not last by 1909 he is living with his parents ref: electoral register and 1911 he is still at home and Charlotte is living on her own means with a companion, married 10 years no children- crossed out. Using directories they are always at different addresses. Charlotte  dies 1949.

As previously posted Bertram dies 1940 and his probate to his sister.

So this side of the Theobald family dies out.
