Max - Renee Family Tree

I have a couple who had four children. However, before the couple were married, the wife had a child by herself (father unknown). How to I add a child just to the women not as a couple in Family Tree Maker?

Welcome to Rootschat, Harvey.

You need to create another spouse, then the child from that new "family". Some family tree apps allow you to create a new person without naming them (which is best practice) but I think Family Tree Maker won't create a new person without a name. The best thing you can do is to put "UNNAMED" (not "Unknown" or other variants) for the person's name. Here is a link to an excellent blogger on genealogy best practice:
