Help needed - can't find death record - Chessun in Southwark, London

Hi,

I have been searching for a death record of Eliza Jane Chessun, born 1851/2 in Surrey. I found her on 1901 census living in Henshaw Street, Southwark, however, after that I can't find any records. No further census or death record. I have gone over and over this so many times. If anyone could take a look at it for me I'd be very appreciative. Her husband, Charles Chessun died in 1886 in the Newington Workhouse, a family rumour was that she met the same fate but I've checked the workhouse records and can't find her. It's a mystery. I've checked name variants Chesson etc and even her maiden name but nothing! Much appreciated, Anna

Did she have children she could have moved in with?

Is she alone in 1901.

I can see an 1891 entry for her but not the 1901 you mention.  Can you post full details of the 1901 entry or the piece/folio/page numbers

Was her maiden name Read? Marriage entry plus 1891 only show her as Eliza - not Eliza Jane

1891 has birthplace as Walworth Surrey so I used Surrey as her birthplace for 1901 - big mistake!! Thanks Comberton

Hi, just seen it, thank you. I have ordered a certificate so I will see if that's my Eliza. I'm not sure it is as the age is slightly out but it could be. Thanks for all your help.
