David DIAZ *COMPLETED WITH THANKS*
« on: Monday 29 November 21 12:22 GMT (UK) »
Joan HEAVES & David DIAZ married.  I have not as yet located the marriage however in Joan's parent's Wills this fact is noted.

Her Father's Will was dated 16 Jan 1688 [William HEAVES] and her mother's Will dated 1726 at Brighton.

Joan's two brothers mention Joan as wife of David DIAZ.  William HEAVES Mariner of Brighton Will dated 26 Aug 1723 & Napper REEVES alias HEAVES of Portsmouth, Dorset Will dated 11 Jun 1726.

Would appreciate some assistance to locate Joan who was baptised Brighton 26 Mar 1674 and her marriage to David DIAZ and any issue..

Haven't spotted a marriage yet. However, here are two possible children:

Ann DYES
Baptism: 22 Aug 1708
Place: Holborn
Parents: David & Jone DYES

David DIAS
Baptism: 1710?
Place: London?
Parents: David & Jone DIAS

Possible Apprentice payment record for David Diaz:
Aug 1719 - David DYAS of St Andrews, Holborn, Mercer, to Joyce, daughter of Tho Perry of St Andrew.

Possible burial for husband David Diaz:
David DIOS - City of London, 27 Oct 1728

His December 1728 Probate record at TNA below (but not online):
DYAS, David, p. of All Hallows, Honey Lane. Joanna Dyas, widow, relict and adtrix.

Here's a 1722 mention for a David DYAS (of St Clement's Danes) in the London Gazette. He's guilty of assaulting two men (surveyors): https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/6038/page/2

London, England, Land Tax Records, 1692-1932
Name:  David Dyas
Residence Year:   1717
Residence Place:  St Andrew Holborn, City of London

There is also a David DYAS mentioned in Ireland, Exchequer Court of Equity Bill Books, 1674-1850 records circa 1705-1721. No idea if there's a connection to Mr DYAS of Holborn.

Ancestry has this record with image. It must be David's widow, as the image indicates "of Honey Lane, Allhallows" and mentions "son David Dyas". Sorry, I'm not very good with reading Will images.

London, England, Wills and Probate, 1507-1858
Name:   Joan Dyas
Probate Date:   5 Oct 1730
Parish:   Allhallows

Could this be a record for son David?

London, England, Land Tax Records, 1692-1932
Name:   David Dias
Residence Year:   1772
Residence Place:   St Dunstan, City of London, England

Westy - I've not found a marriage record yet. It might not be online or available. Even if a record still exists, the details will probably be just the names of the couple. Maybe the witness names, depending on the parish record. Also, they might not have married in London. It appears that David was a mercer (trader/merchant) so he could be from anywhere.

Hope Joan's 1730 Will image has provided you with additional family names to go on. I'm assuming you have an Ancestry sub or access to Ancestry?

Hello Hillhurst,

Thank you for looking for me.  Your assistance, and finds, were fantastic and as said very much appreciated.

The Will was so very feint and took me sometime to transcribe.  There were some words I was unable to even hazard at a guess.  Nonetheless Joan mentioned only her two children David and Ann.  I 'think' Joan mentioned Ann's married name but I was unable to even guess it as it was so very feint.

Nonetheless I will close the post and as you say the marriage may not even be on line and as you also say who knows where the couple married.

Many thanks once again.

Westy
