Any Islay experts?
« on: Monday 20 December 21 09:01 GMT (UK) »
Looking information on a Dougal Campbell probably born about 1750 at Laggan, Islay?

Londonderry Journal
Fri 3 march 1775
Married Feb 27 Dougall Campbell of Lag(g)an, Islay Argyllshire to Miss Dunlap of Chatham Hall, Co Antrim

Note - the said Miss Dunlap appears to have been a daughter of George Dunlap of Chatham Hall, Armoy Co Antrim and grand-daughter of the Rev Samuel Dunlap (born Dervock, Antrim).

Laggan looks to be on the boundary of 2 parishes and I am not sure which it falls into. Assuming he was Church of Scotland, Kildalton & Oa parish has 4 Dugald Campbell baptisms around the time you want: 4th Jan 1755, 20th Aug 1741, 19th Aug 1848 and 1749 (no date or month). Killarow & Kilmeny parish, to the north, doesn’t appear to have any records for that period.

The 4 baptisms in Kildalton are on the Scotlandspeople site (pay to view).
