I have quite a few records of MI's and an early census of Balmaclellan and although there are Humes and Murrays mentioned there you have not given me anything to go on.  Have you searched for these families on Scotland's people as the records you are searching for are post 1855 when civil registration began?  If you can date these records, please come back to us and we will try to help.

Patrick Murray & Agnes Hume only married in 1871 but you show an Agnes Murray b 1862.  Was Patrick previously married? Was Agnes previously married? 

You need to download a copy of the 1871 marriage cert which will give both sets of parents names & mothers maiden names  www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

The 1881 census shows him as Peter.  All b Kirkcudbrightshire except Peter/Patrick.  All children b Balmaclellan

I have all the published Balmaclellan records, including a 1790s census as some of my ancestors were from that parish but, as the Murrays were from Ireland, there might be very few records about them in Balmaclellan.

1891 census records that Patrick / Peter MURRAY was born in Cork Ireland.
In the 1891 and 1901 census his occupation is recorded as farmer / crofter at Glaisters Bridge.
Peter MURRAY died in 1903 at Corsock Bridge, age 73.
On his marriage his father is recorded as Martin MURRAY (deceased) and his mother Nancy (deceased)

Children:
- As already noted, Agnes born 1862 was illegitimate.
 - This is also the case for Robert Murray HUME born 2 Aug 1867 Balmacclellan – mother Agnes HUME, no father recorded.
In 1901 census he is living with parents, single, occupation stone breaker.
- A son Ebenerzer MURRAY born 19 Oct 1872 Corsock Bridge; died as an infant.
- James MURRAY born 23 Dec 1873 Corsock Bridge. In 1901 census occupation cab driver, living Troqueer.
