Elizabeth Hassall

Seeking assistance to find the birth or baptism of Elizabeth Hassall/Hassell.

The scanty information I have obtained indicates that she was born about 1778 in Chester, Cheshire, OR 1779 in Liverpool, Lancashire(unlikely).

What I am certain about is that she married William Moseley 5th May 1800 in Warmingham, Cheshire. I have the marriage register, and the licence and bonds whereby he and Elizabeth’s father John Hassall paid the five hundred pounds for the licence.

I have tried all the normal routes to try to find the birth/baptism of Elizabeth, but have come up empty. :'(

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful

Could the Hassall family be originally from south of Sandbach?

waynenort, thank you for finding that information.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to findmypast, so cannot access the information you have managed to find :'(

At this point in time, I do not have any other information about the Hassall family, other than Elizabeth marrying into the Moseley family. This is why I am trying to find out more information.

waynenort, thank you very much for that information.

From the information I have regarding the Moseley family, it looks as though they lived in the general area of Crewe for several generations.

Whether there could have been interaction with Staffordshire or Shropshire, I do not know, but if they were farm workers, with William Moseley as a farmer, and they working for him at various times, it is possible that they could have come into contact.

All very interesting, and more work involved.

Many thanks for your interest and help.
