Hit a brickwall

Hi I'm trying to research Ethel maud britton born abt 1906 occording to her marriage certificate she was married to a william gale In  1925 mangotsfield St James Gloucestershire. Her fathers name was Herbert Britton. I've been trying to find records for her birth and any info on her father's family. I have found her in the 1939 census with her husband and know she died in 1978.
But I haven't been able to go back any further.
Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

When you say she was born in 1906, according to her marriage certificate - does that agree with her actual birth date on the 1939 register please?

There are 3 or 4 Ethel Maud Brittons born in 1906 plus or minus a couple of years - all in different places. Her actual birth date from the 1939 register should help if it is recorded correctly of course!

On her marriage certificate she was married on the 23rd of May 1925 it states her age as being 19. In the 1939 census her date of birth is recorded as the 2nd of April 1906 no birthplace visible.

What was her father's occupation on the marriage for her please?

Her fathers occupation is as on the marriage certificate is stated as a labourer.

Same mothers maiden name of Garland.

Thank you I will take a look. Its odd that the date given as her birth date which is also stated on the death registered for her but there is no birth records with that date.
