Ch of Ireland Cemetery in Derrygonnelly?
« on: Wednesday 29 December 21 02:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi. This list  http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/fermanagh/cemeteries/derrygonnelly.htm headed "Derrygonnelly Graveyard" contains burials of a Teevan family (from 1823 to 1878) who I'm fairly certain were Church of Ireland. Could someone please clarify which cemetery this would be. I can find references to the Old Parish Graveyard but nothing which tells me its denomination and location. It obviously won't be the St Patricks churchyard because I gather it's Roman Catholic.
cheers
John

My understanding is that the nomenclature "Derrygonnelly Graveyard" usually refers to the graveyard about 1/4 mile north of the village surrounding the ruins of the old parish church, which was originally built by the Dunbar family as a private chapel (of ease).  The churchyard became the place of burial for that family and the surrounding population, ie. mixed religions.

As gaffy said, it's north of Derrygonnelly on the B81 road. Here it is on Google Layers.

You can also see it on the PRONI Historical Maps Viewer.
https://apps.spatialni.gov.uk/PRONIApplication/

Type Derrygonnelly in the search box and click Derrygonnelly (Inishmacsaint). Select from the Layer List, the OSNI Historical Third Edition (1900-1907). The map shows Graveyard and Church (in ruins).
