Northfield and Gullielands
« on: Monday 03 January 22 01:32 GMT (UK) »
The Historical Families of Dunfriesshire and the Border Wars CHAPTER X states ...
John Murray of Aiket showed a grant of the lands of Northfield and Gullielands under the great seal in 1604.

How do I find out exactly what these two areas covered?
Thanks
Janine

Here are Northfield and Gullielands/Gullyland:
https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=15.196579758757018&lat=55.00690&lon=-3.24995&layers=4&b=1

Google tells me Gullielands is/was a farm so it may be that Northfield is/was as well. Regarding area covered/ acreage, I can’t advise.

Use the overlay transparency (bottom left) to see the location of both farms on this map:
https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=15.533394296753338&lat=55.00538&lon=-3.25212&layers=5&b=1

Both look to be working farms it seems, which is good to see.  :)

Added: even better:
https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/200334531-northfield-farm-annan

I found mention of Northfield farm being 114 acres in 1727.
