Assuming they got divorced in Montana (which may or may not have been the case), there isn't anything comprehensive online for Montana divorce records.  This site gives a contact for divorce information - https://dphhs.mt.gov/vitalrecords/contacts

I'm not sure if this is your guy, but there's a Michael O'Brien of about the right age who died in Silver Bow in 1918 in part due to alcoholism.  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-LB2K-Z2J?i=2095&cc=1930397&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQKNR-H932

Mary O'Brien, 31, born in England, living in Butte, divorced, daughter of Thomas Mulholland and Eliza Montgomery
and
Albert E Duff, 29, a miner, born in England, living in Butte, not previously married, son of William H Duff and Mary Martin

married 17 February 1913 in Silver County, Montana, by John Doran, Justice of the Peace
witnesses: James and Margaret Jago

[note: her death rec says her mother's name was Byrne. I found a Mary Mulholland with a hint that her mother was Eliza (Byrne) Mulholland in the English censuses. So I think Byrne is more likely]

This man was buried in Sioux City, Iowa. Did your Michael O'Brien have relatives there?
