Memorial Inscription?
« on: Thursday 06 January 22 22:31 GMT (UK) »
Hello! Does anyone know how I might be able to find this record's memorial inscription? There should be a transcription of the information on this man's headstone but it is not on FindMyPast, thanks for any advice and help!!! - Danile

How do you know he has a headstone?  The info you have posted could just be from the burial register regardless of the notation re memorial inscriptions

Hello Carole! There is a blurb under the record on FindMyPast that says the Record Set "N Cheshire Mmeorial Inscriptions" is specifically for transcriptions of tombstones or headstones

I checked findagrave.com and billiongraves.com, but it doesn't appear on either site. That's not to say it's not in the churchyard, just that it's not listed on those sites yet.

You could try contacting Cheshire Family History Society who did the transcriptions. Sometimes Family History Societies produce CDs of work they have undertaken like MIs.
You could try contacting the church to ask them is there is a gravestone with an MI on - especially if you offer a donation to their church restoration fund!
You may have to visit the church yard, and armed with the information this transcription gives you, find the actual grave.
Or you could put a plea out on Rootschat for anybody who lives in Stockport to see if they can find it for you.

Wonderful as the internet is, not all family history research can be done via it.  :)

Thankyou Goldie! Very insightful, I just reached out to the church. I would love to pay a visit to the churchyard except I do not live in the UK, I should contact my cousin in Stockport - Danile

No, neither do I. I wish I did sometimes as there's so much I'd like to look at.
A cousin in Stockport should be ideal!  ;)
