James Gunn born about 1767

Been looking endlessly for a birth record of James Gunn born abt 1767 Wick, Caithness I think. Other researchers have suggest a George Gunn abt 1723 - 1778 to be the father and mother Margaret Corner 1735 - 1793. Married Anne Bremner 1799? Cannot find birth or death record. Have searched under Gunn and Corner. Cannot locate on 1841 census either. Glad of any help suggestions. Thanks in advance.

This is the record you refer to the only one in Wick but there are 4 others in the County +/- 2 years

GUN   JAMES   GEORGE GUN/MARGARET CORNER   01/11/1767   Wick

JAMES GUN   Married    ANNE BREMNER   08/03/1799   Wick

Possible record?
BREMNER   ANN   DONALD BREMNER   00/04/1778   Latheron

There are no deaths at Wick pre statutory reg in 1855, and very few elsewhere in the County.

The birth & marriage records are on SP.
Use name variations or wild cards.

This looks like a possible marriage for Anne’s parents but there are others elsewhere.

DOND BREMNER   Married    MARGT. CORMACK   11/01/1770   Latheron

They had 5 other children there.

I have looked on Scotlands People and the only birth for 1/11/1767 is for a John Gunn father James Latheron. I have put in may variations and nothing comes up for Wick. would be grateful for any further guidance/help.

This from SP 2 minutes ago James 1 N, use name variations or wild cards

Thank you now found. Strange it only works with wild card names. Or does this happen a lot?
