Look up for 1901/1902 Leicester birth please

Been revisiting some of my 1911 Census ancestors this weekend and noticed there is an Everard Wells aged 9 ( listed as Grandson ) living with my Great Grandmother in Westbourne Street.

Just wondering who his parents were. I have checked FreeBMD for a birth and found an Everard Wells born in the Sept quarter of 1901. The dates and location all appear to tie up but there is no mothers maiden name listed ( I know FreeBMD do show mothers maiden names in some cases but I dont know when they started introducing this information ).

Does anyone have access to records or details that could help me please.

1897 marriage in Leicester on freebmd seems to fit - Lily Murgatroyd/Reuben Henry Wells

Reuben Henry Wells was b 1878 Leics as was Lily Murgatroyd
Reuben died 1935

1911 entry for Lily

I didn`t expect a reply so quickly yet alone the details and links you also supply, absolutely brilliant.

I didn`t realise you could carry out a check using GRO to produce those kind of results so that is something else I have learnt this evening 

I am only doing this because the 1921 Census has kicked started my research. I was itching to find out where my Grandparents were in 1921. I elected to spend £3.50 x 2 to find the answer. I had trouble navigating the 1921 Census what with main page, front covers etc

The 1911 Census is much more user friendly in my opinion with all the information on one page to include addresses. Unfortunately on the 1921 because my respective Grandparents lived in small villages the addresses are just given as the village name ( one was actually a Publican and it doesnt even list the pub name ).

Anyway Carole many sincere thanks for your kind help and assistance, greatly appreciated.
