I saw the door was open LM, posted there for last week and a look in here before getting evening meal on table this Monday.

Got as much as I could done before the day warmed up too much, husband had a hospital appointment this morning, annual for his glaucoma check. He did a park and ride journey, parking at quite nearby station and took train which stops right across from hospital, convenient and more economical with free senior travel and avoiding parking fee there. Gave me a few hours to get on with things.

Jabs for younger children started NZ today, school holidays for another couple of weeks ...

Not having heard from the hospital re appointment due last SeptemberI phoned  again  today .
Got an appt for February.
Had phoned a couple of months back but they had a backlog and  in November were  still struggling with  June and July appointments .
Can book transport if necessary, but if son is well he will take me.

Lady who has just lost her son called today
She is so lonely but her daughters do seem to be rallying round ,some help from Social  Services, and Bury’s Society for blind and partially sighted people
I offered to add what she wants to my online shopping list but she could not quite grasp it,it must be hard, if you don’t see well ,it is surprising how your brain seems to slow down..
I mentioned about some sheltered housing in Ramsbottom ,she seemed interested so her daughter will call to speak to me ,not that I know much but do know friends who took the plunge and do not regret it.
I ought to be thinking along those lines myself.

Another friend phoned to say her husband had died, sadly far advanced in Alzheimer’s ,so no longer recognised her.
What a shame.
A sad start to the week.

Just on the news- “If you can’t speak English ask for a translator!-“ Notice at a vaccination centre!
At the bottom of my fuel bill in teeny tiny print half the size of this :-
“If you want this in Braille “—-

Honestly ,  lip service .
Still not got any masks despite having a collection code.
Another paper exercise.

Well Last of the Summer Wine ,is on.So a good laugh is guaranteed.
Cheerio folks.
Viktoria.

A few snowdrop flowers in garden. No sun so blooms hadn't opened. I could smell a scent in the garden which I didn't recognise. It was a winter box in a pot. I've moved it to the back door-stop to make the most of it every time I open the door.

Had to ring GP's surgery to rearrange an appointment I cancelled last week.
Took most of the day - continually engaged.
Cancelled appointment because I was in hospital!

New date in a few weeks.

Then got a letter with a hospital consultation - follow-up to last week's op.

Opticians on Friday.
Then Physio coming next week.

It's all go!

The 'annual' appointment for husband's visit was delayed somewhat, was getting a bit concerned that it didn't happen last year and mentioned it to his doctor. Prior to going public just a few years ago he had been going private and the appointments were every 3 months and the expense covered by insurance, we made the decision to not continue with the premiums skyrocketing with increased age but still have longtime welfare membership through workplace which can help with costs a bit if need be and emergencies would be public. Doctors visits are subsidised and his list of other medical events, including 2 knee replacements, in the decade between 60 and 70 requiring admission to hospital have all been public, then these last 5 years it's just been visits to the eye clinic and it was all good this time. Overdue to make an appointment with his optician though and today phoned by hearing clinic as 6 years since been there and due free consultation. I know I'm lucky not to have matched him with all these visits, I did make use of the insurance a few times while we had it for a couple of procedures and we thought it was worth it when we were working and family took up their own cover when working as well.

News slowly coming in from Tonga re devastating eruption and aftermath, NZ have sent aid.

On omicron alert with MIQ worker and now one of his household contacts positive but as so many detected at border making up our numbers it is bound to get out into community eventually ...
