Possible sisters?

Hi All
Anyone know how id go about trying to find out of the following
Elsie Rosina Clarke and Doris Victoria Clarke on this census are sisters or cousins?
My Great Nan Elsie was illigitimate so was wondering if Doris’s Father may also be Elsies?
Any hints advice or replies woud be really appreciated

The surname of Doris's mother is recorded as Lane as below

CLARKE, DORIS  VICTORIA ROSE    mother's maiden name LANE 
GRO Reference: 1904  D Quarter in CHIPPING NORTON  Volume 03A  Page 108

Doris Victoria was born 2nd September 1904 and baptised 6th November 1904. Her parents are recorded as Frederick & Florence Clarke. Fredericks occupation was "groom"

Looks as though Doris's father Frederick James Clarke was the son of James and Elizabeth born 1882 who appears with them on 1891 census. The fact that Elsie Rosina had no mother's name recorded at birth suggests they are cousins. Elsie Rosina was born 27th Sept 1896 and her baptism records only mother Frances Annie, who is Frederick Albert's sister.

Save your money Dunc, Elsie's marriage cert 19th September 1917 to Perival Joseph Padley is online on Ancestry and no father is shown.

I thought it might be a long shot but at least i can at least try trace Frederick Clarkes/Lane lineage (hopefully!)
