Holmes Family 1851 Grenoside Ecclesfield

Hi all, I'm trying to identify in particular the 2 grandchildren Ann and James. There is also a question around Joseph Holmes 1811-52, father of Henry here, who I cannot find in 1851. Any help appreciated

You can look for her birth registration to find her parents. 

The GRO index gives mothers maiden name for births which is very helpful.

Thanks. Yes Ive already looked all over the GRO in that parish and neighbouring ones. The only Ann Holmes that vaguely matches is one at Treeton, Rotherham but the names on it dont seem connected to this family.

The 1851 isn't very helpful is it just giving "Yorkshire" as birthplace.

Any idea of his occupation and was he widowed by 1851?

There is one age 40 widower who is a clothier in Eccleshill.  He has with him more Holmes people.

The Ann you have was living at Grenoside in March 1851 age 2.  The burial is in December 1851 for an Ann age 1.
