Commonwealth War Graves Commission are appealing for relatives of Private Alfred John Copp - Dorsetshire Regiment - burial Londonderry (or Derry) City Cemetery. Died (Drowned) 19/1/1920 aged 22 years. - Regiment number 9632 - father Arthur.

The death certificate gives “drowning in the River Foyle” as the cause, so it seems likely to be the right person.

Londonderry Sentinel, 22 Jan.1920: ... inquest was held on Tuesday Mr. J. P. Thompson, J.P., deputy-coroner, into the circum[stances?] attending the death of Corporal John A. Copp, Dorset Regiment, native of Exeter, whose cap and cane were found at the Waterside Quay a month ago, and whose dead body was found ... on Monday ...
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
