William Ross, marriage and divorce, Washington or California

I am looking for the marriage and/or divorce of William Henry Ross who was born on 26 September 1884 in Portland, Oregon to parents Daniel Graham Ross and Anna Florence Crow.  The marriage and divorce probably occurred in Washington or California.  In 1920, he was single and living with his parents in Port Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington.  In 1930, he was divorced and living with his widowed mother in Pomona, Los Angeles County, California.  William's father, Daniel, had died in California in February 1923.

His death certificate says he was single (Not married, widowed or divorced)

Perhaps that was an error in the 1930 census?

Thanks, Sandra, that fills in some details.  And I think it answers my ultimate question - he did not have any children, or at least not any living children.

I had seen his death certificate.  The informant was his sister and she must have known whether he was single or divorced but she might have just written off a brief marriage that was long in the past.
