Hough family query
« on: Sunday 13 February 22 15:31 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I wonder if I could have a fresh pair of eyes please to help me find the correct person from the information below:

Christopher Hough born 1885 Northwich - parents are John & Alice (nee Barlow)
John born 1852 Castle Northwich to John & Mary (nee Starkey)

Now my problem starts. According to census records, John (snr) was born around 1814, there are 2 John Houghs on a parish baptisms search on FindMyPast, 1 born then to Samuel & Mary, baptised in Weaverham, the other born in 1816 to Ralph & Mary in Middlewich. To confuse matters even more, I've found baptism records for 2 of John's children which stated hsi parents as William & Sarah but can find no record of them having a son called John in this time frame in Cheshire. I have Samuel & Mary on my tree but daren't go any further back until I can establish if these are definitely the correct parents.
Any help/thoughts would be appreciated

Where did you get Alice's maiden name of Barlow from?

GRO online shows Christopher Hough reg March qtr 1886 Northwich mmn Sandbach

Was Alice previously married to a Barlow?

There is more than one John Hough birth in 1852 Northwich.  Does John juniors marriage cert confirm his father was a waterman?

If so - 1851 & 1871 show John senior b 1816

From FreeBMD and GRO, I can see a Christopher Hough registered in March quarter 1886 in Northwich RD - GRo give mother's maiden name of Sandbach  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Are you trying to find the family of the Christopher Hough who went to Canada 1907?

Married Margaret Asbury 19 November 1908 in Ladner British Columbia.
