Harrold sisters of Hinckley and London?
« on: Sunday 13 February 22 18:08 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find the parents of 3 Harrold sisters (Or at least I believe them to be sisters), Who were born in London but all marry in Hinckley. There are several Harrold families in Hinckley but I can find no baptisms for these 3. I descend from Jane.

Jane Harrold. Born c1792.
Marries Thomas Follows, 11 Aug 1811 Hinckley, Leicestershire. Jane is 'Of Hinckley'. Jane's sister Ann and husband William Throne are witnesses.
1841 - 'Of Leicestershire'
1851 - 'Born London, Middlesex'
1861 - 'Born London, Middlesex'
1871 - 'Born London, Middlesex'
Uses the name Sophia/Sophie for two of her children, most likely naming after sister.

Jane dies 1872, aged 80 (1792).

Sophie/Sophia Harrold, Born c1785.
Marries William Dixson/Dixon, 12 Jul 1803 by license at Hinckley. Sophia is 'Of Hinckley'.
Marries 2nd, Thomas Deacon 30 Nov 1817 Hinckley.
1841 - 'Born outside of Leicestershire'
1851 - 'Born London, Middlesex'

Sophia dies 1854 aged 69 (1785).

Ann Harrold, Born c1790/1793.
Marries William Throne, 26 Sep 1811 Hinckley. Thomas Follows, Jane's husband is a witness.
1841 - 'Born outside of Leicestershire'
1851 - 'Born London, Middlesex'
1861 - 'Born London, Middlesex'

Ann dies 1870 aged 80 (1790)

Any help appreciated.

Hi
Can't see a baptism for any of them but there is this on London Lives 10 July 1787.
I Edward Harold yeoman of Hog Lane Shoreditch do quit my claim on Anne Ridgeway wife of Joseph Ridgeway  Victualler of St James Clerkenwell on behalf of myself and my daughters Elizabeth age 5 and Sophie age 3.
Anne Ridgeway was supposed to have assaulted Edward Harold and the children ,the previous March.

It looks like the signature for Edward matches with a marriage at Shoreditch
1.10.1783 Edward Harold widower and Elizabeth Bass otp
wit Thomas Powell and William Burgess

You never know it might be them

Great work, It certainly looks like a possibility.
I can see an Edward Harrold marries an Elizabeth Elliot in Hinckley 1771 and after this the only baptism I could find is an Elizabeth bapt 1773 Hinckley to Edward and Elizabeth. Nothing after that in relation to this pair, at least in Hinckley.
Then there is a Presbyterian baptism in Hinckley 1751 for Edward Harrold, son of John and Rachel.
I wonder if Edward Harrolds children were also baptised non-conformist and this is the reason I cant find any baptisms. I know that some records either haven't been transcribed or are simply lost when it comes to non-conformers.

Ive just seen this burial.
'Elizabeth Harrold, 20 Oct 1782 of St James Garlickhythe, London, Non-Conformist, Countess Of Huntingdon's Connexion. Aged 34' (Birthdate 1748).
Fits with Edward Harrold being a Widower in 1783. The age also fits being Elizabeth Elliot who married Edward Harrold in Hinckley. I wonder if this is indeed them?

Could there be a connection with the assault by Ann Ridgeway in 1787?

Possible baptism Mary Ridgeway 24.2.1738 d of John and Alice ,with a brother Joseph at Enderby 19.4.1747
Joseph married Ann Barrell at Hinckley HTrinity  4.6.1767
No children baptised in the area of Hinckley or London. And I can't see a burial.
