I wonder of any of your McMillans would show on the Duke of Argyll, Inhabitants 1792 census. It did cover the parish of Killean.

It is not something that I am familiar with. Hopefully there may be something there for you to follow up on if you haven't already.

Angus Martin in 'Kintyre the hidden past' quotes from precognition against Duncan McConochy, records of the Lord's Advocate Office AD14 56/199

1. Donald MacMillan aged 54, farmer at taychroman in joint tenancy with his unmarried brother Archibald.
McLean, Ireland and Campbeltown

Hi there. Just to clear up exactly who Archibald McMillan and Donald McMillan of Taychroman/Tayinloan in Killean were.
Archibald and Donald's parents were Alexander McMillan (b.abt 1757 d.1832) and Margaret Carmichael (b.1762 d.1840) both buried Killean graveyard.
Archibald never married but Donald married a much younger Jane (Jean) McGill in 1846 and they had a large family.
They still appear on the 1871 Scottish census before moving to Ontario, Canada shortly afterwards.
Donald died 20 Feb 1879 in Dunwich, Elgin County, Ontario and Archibald died 10 Jan 1881 in Dunwich, Elgin County, Ontario.

I do not know if this is the same family you are seeking. Page 35 Angus Martin Kintyre the Hidden Past refers to an assault at Taychroman. Donald MacMillan 54 in a joint tenancy with his brother Archibald was a witness.
