A Gloucester Cook spoiling my broth
« on: Monday 21 February 22 13:18 GMT (UK) »
:P

I was given a tree put together by a family member with some dates a year or so ago . I believe it was originally drawn up in the late 1970s by both research of the day , and some family knowledge from that handed down the generations .
I have worked on it over the last week or so and added pieces to the lines I've researched but have a problem with a past relative -

Jane Cook who mrd . Thomas Strong on 25 Sept 1834 . The family were from Wickwar originally and some records of the day suggest this to be correct ( inc . census returns for Jane ( Strong ) 1851 1861 and 1871 ) . She d . Mar 1/4 1887 Thornbury aged 72 y V.6A PG 175 .
I have 6 children - Thomas c . 1834 , Richard 1838 , William 1841 ,Susannah Jane c . 1846 , George 1849 and John 1852 .

Would anyone have information on Jane Cook's birth / bp date ( pos . Wickwar area of Gloucestershire ) , parents or siblings ?

With thanks for any help and prompt for the Cook family you may give .

For in case it's useful, checked on the Forest of Dean Family History website - which has Gloucestershire Marriage Allegations 1637-1837  and Marriage Bonds 1730- 1823

Just one COOK at Wickwar(r)

Marriage by Licence

26 September 1793

Thomas THOMAS, aged 30, occupation: Clerk

Groom residence: Wickwarr

Mary YOUNGSON, aged 30, Widow
Bride residence: Warminster in the County of Wilts

Sworn before Thos. Rudge, to marry at Wickwarr

----

Pigots 1830 Directory of Gloucestershire (Wickwar is under Northleach)

Thomas COOKE, Revd. Wickwar
STRONG Roberts, Revd. Painswick

---

?? British  Newspapers on Line - Oxford Journal, 7 July 1830

The Rev Thomas COOK, Rector of Wickwar, Gloucestershire, whilst conversing with one of his parishioners, he suddenly fell from his chair and instantly expired.

Thanks for your reply..been looking at Familysearch and Cook surname in Wickwar as a village itself . Jane Cook on the treeline I was given shows b . 1813 so looked at pos brothers and sisters 1800 - 20 and parents given .
I have 14 different christian names where pos . siblings could be within . As for parent names , I have William and Joyce..Joseph and Mary..Arthur and Charity..and a mother only showing on one child ( m . Elizabeth ) .
Sadly as yet nothing that gives a lead regarding Jane Cook . I am sometimes a little sceptical about some info . on F/S but its a start to finding the lead I frequire .

Again appreciate replies..some of the info . I have , some not . William ( the son of Thomas and Jane ) on my tree is B. 1841 with the word FOREST by his name .

Of note - you give William and Jane as parents ( and not Thomas and Jane ? ) . Jane Cook mrd . Thomas Strong ( F. Thomas and Hannah Lambert ) and had another known child named Sophia Bp . 1814 .
