George Atkins - aka Lord George Atkins.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission are appealing for relatives of Acting Sergeant George Atkins - aka Lord George Atkins - Welsh Regiment - 5 th Btn - service no 342 - died 27 March 1917 - aged 25 years. Buried Glyntaff Cemetery Pontypridd.

The Commission plans to do remedial work on the grave and would like to make contact with the grave owner.

Lord went by his middle name of George and was the son of Thomas and Fanny Atkins, of Swansea. The family had moved to 97, Coedpenmaen Road, Pontypridd prior to the war. George worked as a miner prior to the war and had served with the 3rd Battalion, Welsh Regiment (Militia) before he re-enlisted at Pontypridd into the 5th Battalion, Welsh Regiment (Territorials) on 4 May 1908..etc etc

19th August 1915 Gallipoli Turkey - Wounded in action in right shoulder, invalided to England on HS Caledonia (hospital ship) on 22 Aug 1915. Admitted to General Hospital Bristol on 1 Sep 1915.

Anc tree says George married Margaret Stock  - St Davids Church - at Llanwonno on 25 February 1913

Couple appear to have had a son - Thomas Henry Atkins 1913–1998
born 26 November 1913 - Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales died 1998  Western Australia, Australia ?

Lord George Atkins is a family member of mine and I have been researching him, I have information regarding him and his son which I have found out today. If you want to get into contact I am happy to share the information that I have on him and his family.

Hey Sandra,

I was wondering if you have any pictures of Lord George Atkins, I have one but it's not the best quality. I am researching him as he is a family member of mine and I wanted to find more about him and have a Better image for my family tree.
