Commonwealth War Graves Commission are appealing for relatives of Lieutenant Walter Bertram Wood.  Royal Flying Corp - died 11/11/1917 - buried Scartho Road Cemetery Grimsby. Aged 19 years.

The private memorial marking the grave of Lt Walter Wood no longer provides adequate commemoration. The Commission are in the process of producing a new headstone to mark his grave.

Walter and his brother, Second Lieutenant Edwin Leonard "Ted" Wood, aged 25, of "C" Coy. 1st Bn.Royal Scots Fusiliers who also fell,[26/09/1917] are the subjects of J. Bygott's book, "Two Soldier Brothers".
They were sons of Walter James Wood, J.P.[Justice of the Peace], and Mrs. Annie Jane Wood of "Ernecroft," Abbey Road, Grimsby.

Brother - Lieut Edwin Leonard Wood - FIND A GRAVE died 26 September 1917

Tyne Cot Memorial Zonnebeke, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen), Belgium
* A structure erected in honor of someone whose remains lie elsewhere.

He was 25 and the son of Walter James Wood, J.P. and Annie Wood of "Ernecroft," Grimsby; husband of Dorothy Constance Wood of Crossways, Portland Avenue, Grimsby.

Edwin is commemorated on his brother's wargrave at Grimsby Scartho Road Cemetery
