Missing husband?
« on: Sunday 13 March 22 21:49 GMT (UK) »
Evening everyone,

Harry Walter Stevenson was born 1891 in Whilton, Northamptonshire and married Lena Mary Partridge born 1895 in Kirby Muxloe, Leics.

They married in Oadby in 1923 and it shows that Harry had moved to Sutton, Surrey. Trying to find anything about Harry after his marriage in 1923. In 1939, Lena is in Kirby Muxloe with their son but no sign of Harry.

Can anyone help find anything post-1923 please? Trying to find an entry for 1939 and a death please.

Thank you.
David.

FMPast has all three for Harry and only 1929 for Lena, Ancestry only has 1927 and 1929 for Harry and only 1928 for Lena although both are on each year. Searching can be a bit hit and miss sometimes.

Possibly Harry's death?

STEVENSON, HARRY  WALTER aged 57  GRO Reference: 1950  D Quarter in BARNET  Volume 05A  Page 633

Added: In 1939 there is a married Harry W Stevenson DoB Jun 1893 living in Barnet - possibly Shenley Hospital Nr St Albans.

Further added: he's show as a patient, and a quick google tells me Shenley was a psychiatric hospital.

There is a tree on Ancestry which confirms the Barnet death, and has a picture of him in uniform.

Some others have his death as 1942 but don't look right.

I think it might be wrong as there is a baptism in Wellingborough in 1891 for a Walter Stevenson. The 1942 death seems to match this.
