Porthamal Cottage? - Bronllys
« on: Sunday 27 March 22 23:00 BST (UK) »
One more question. I have found the Griffiths family were living in Bronllys in 1851 (they appear to have been transient farm labourers) - living in what looks like it might be Porthamal Cottage (the entry above is Lower Porthamal)? Is this likely to be the cottages on the A4078 shown here? - https://coflein.gov.uk/en/site/300923/archives

Many thanks

I would think yes. You can also see Porthamal Cottage here on this 1887 map

And in more detail (1903)

There are two cottages currently occupying the site of what appears on the map to be Porthamel Cottage.  There aree two farms, Great Porthamel and Lower Porthamel and these holdings still exist. Great Porthamel Farm has a v interesting history and used to be the family seat of the Vaughan family.
