Townland of Coolfin , which catholic parish?
« on: Monday 28 March 22 20:28 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am unfamiliar with the geography of Co. Galway in relation to which catholic parish would someone from Coolfin be baptised in, or married in.
The family I am helping a friend to  research lived in Coolfin from at least 1860 to 1887 and there are civil birth records for their children from start of state registration in 1864 up to late 1870s but can't locate any corresponding baptism records. The family was Patrick Conry and Anne Martin of Coolfin, married sometime before 1860, children included Mary, Thomas, James, Bridget, John, Francis and Patt. Any information on local catholic parish would be great. thanks Margaret

Which parishes have you already searched?

Looking at the location of the townland and the map of R.C. parishes it is possibly Tynagh R.C. parish-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks very much for your reply. I had thought perhaps Woodford or Ballinakill but had not found any possibilities there, will now try  Tynagh

Anne Martin was the sister of my great x3 grandfather Martin Martin.  I've been researching Anne and Patrick Conroy.  The both immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1884. I've only found birth information for them from Family Search records.  I haven't been able to find the parish records on NLI.
