Martha Hackwell born 1775 Beaminster
« on: Tuesday 29 March 22 10:34 BST (UK) »
Hello and Good Morning
I'm looking for a Martha Hackwell who married Matthew  Paul in Beaminster in 1805.
She is on the 1841 census with the family. Her birthplace is Dorset but by the 1851 she has died.
I've got her burial which gives a birth c 1775.
There seem to be Hackwells in North Perrott just over the border but no Martha.
Any ideas?

Thank you for any help you could give

Was she definitely a spinster when she married? She would be around 30 at marriage

On the marriage record for Martha and Matthew, it says he was of this parish, but she was resident in this parish. The vicar makes that distinction with several marriages around that time. I think that would imply she had only been there a short time, maybe no more than the required three weeks.

There's also three children born to a John and Elizabeth Hackwell in Beaminster, 1819 - 1824.
The 1841 has a John / Elizabeth couple nbic. They are in their 60's, so maybe married outside Dorset and had earlier children before moving to Beaminster.
John Hackwell of N Perrot and Elizabeth Rousel of S Petherton would fit, banns date 23 Jul 1809, can't find marriage. Possible child William born 27 Jul 1810, Baptised 26 Aug 1810 , N Perrott s/o John and Elizabeth, no more in N P after him, then the set in Beaminster.

John and Elizabeth married S Petherton 7 August. John is recorded as Hawkwell, he made x so couldn't correct it. Elizabeth is recorded as Rowsell, again she made x.
