Thank you, I had seen those and wondered if they were connected too.

I have a DNA  match to a descendant of Mary Read.

I also match her father so it narrows down our connections to his side only. Her father's paternal line is Indian, his mother is British, born in London, but with ancestors from several different regions of England.
The only shared match that I have to the father and daughter (whom I haven't yet identified) has ancestry from Christchurch and nearby, which is where a quarter of my ancestors are from (maternal grandfather). The most promising connection so far is through Mary Read.

In 1841 there's an Elizabeth Read aged 71 in the household of Stephen Hawkins, two doors away from the Broom family. Stephen H married a Sarah Read on 8 Dec 1814.

Not Christchurch and father not John.

Still perhaps worth investigating a Mary READ bap Holdenhurst 27 May 1798, parents Jane and Francis.

Holdenhurst is an easy stroll into Christchurch.

I found that one, but I think she was the Mary Read who married James Vatter at Holdenhurst on 9 May 1816.

Francis and Jane Read on 1841 census in Holdenhurst
In 1851 Jane is widowed and has Caroline Vatter (granddaughter) with her. so that confirms that wasn't the Mary Read I'm looking for.
