HI,
Can anyone help me decipher the residence of Fanny Lawrence in the parish of Kilmore and her father's first name - I think it is Patrick but would like a second opinon.  I have no idea yet as to where she was living in Kilmore - I will have to look at some maps to get some ideas, but was hoping that some one might have an idea.

Many thanks

ellenmaggie

The townland could be Annagh

Here is a marriage for Ann Laurence, father John where Annagh is more clear
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1845/09288/5362979.pdf

There are a couple of marriages around the same time where father is James but residence is Annagh.
Perhaps they are related. It might help. :)

It is me again!   I am struggling to decipher Anne Laurence's husbands name.   The civil records have it as Scailes, but so far I cannot find any other Scailes.   So I took a look again and wondered if the surname started with Le.....  but it really doesn't get me any further forward.

So I have James Scailes (or Leailes possibly) a bachelor, Farmer from Killigar, father Alexander  (Scailes or Leailes?) also a farmer.   I have found Killigar in County Leitrim but I am having no success finding James or Alexander, so think I have the surname wrong.

Any ideas?

Definitely looks like Scailes.

Maybe the vicar (who probably wasn't local) misheard the local Cavan accent and the townland was actually Killicar in Drumlane civil parish.

Annagh and Killicar (which is due north) are approx 14 km apart.
