Looking for Mary Lovell's mother
« on: Thursday 07 April 22 15:00 BST (UK) »
Mary Lovell was baptised in Morden on 15 Jun 1772. The  parish register just states:
"Mary Lovell base born was baptized" after the date.
No mother's name mentioned. Can anyone deduce who her mother might have been, please.

Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

On FindMyPast one of the Dorset Baptism records for Mary indicates:

Parents: Baseborn dau. of

So is the mother's name missing from the original document? Or is the name too illegible for the transcriber to include in the record?

Try contacting the Dorset Family History Society to ask if they have the original document. (The Dorset FHS provided the Baptism transcription records to FindMyPast).

ADDED: The Dorset OPC site includes the 1772 baptism but no mother's name mentioned either.

Speculation only as Mary was baptised in Morden

Lovell
Jenny

1758
England Births & Baptisms 1538-1975
Morden, Dorset, England

She may have been born earlier than baptism date.

I have seen scan of actual parish record. Vicar seems to have left out mother’s name completely

Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge

The Dorset Baptism record for Jenny Lovell indicates she was born in 1758. So perhaps a bit young to be the mother of Mary in 1772.  :-\
