STEVENSON of St Ninians living in Bedfordshire 1930s
« on: Sunday 10 April 22 11:39 BST (UK) »
Hi
I’m looking for any information on descendants of Robert Stevenson (1755-1816) and Hamilton Andrew (1755-), where the descendants were living in Bedfordshire in the early 1930s.
DNA is showing I am over 50% Scottish although born in Bedford. I don’t have any details of my maternal line grandfather because I was adopted, and the DNA link suggests he was from the Stevenson family.
Would be great if anyone knows of any of the many great-great-grandchildren of Robert and Hamilton that might have been in the area.
Thank you.

Thanks for the info so far.

I'm looking for someone who would probably have been born around 1900-1915 to be of "reproductive age" in the 1930s so I'm assuming they would no longer be alive. They would probably be in the record books if they were!

My birth mother was born in 1934 and passed away 6 years ago. She was illegitimate and the person I am trying to find is her father, my maternal grandfather.

The DNA suggests that Robert and Hamilton are my 3rd great grandparents but I don't know which of their children starts the line that my birth mother was descended from. I do know she was born in Bedfordshire and her mother was living and working in that area at the time and would have been unlikely to travel.

So my assumption is that someone directly descended from Robert and Hamilton was in Bedfordshire in 1933/1934. Could be a needle in a haystack!

Thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking in the side-lines for a while soaking up all the information in the forum!
I do know who my birth mother was. I also know she passed away 6 years ago. I can trace the maternal line easily, but can't find her father. Family full of illegitimate children!
Thanks again.
