Looking for the parents of Angelina Ross, b. 1871 in Cuba

Further to the investigation of James A. Logan, I am trying to identify the parents of his second/fourth wife, Angelina Ross.  James A. Logan is discussed here:

Angelina Ross was born in Camaguey, Cuba in 1871.  She married James A. Logan in Cuba in about 1902.

The nationality of Angelina's parents is unclear.  On the 1900 census, she was single and living alone in New Jersey.  Her father was recorded as born in New Jersey, mother in Cuba.  However, on the 1910 census, her father was recorded as born in Cuba, her mother in New Jersey.

Her obituary in 1932 referred to a brother, Frank, in New Jersey.  It seems plausible that Frank is this individual.  Unfortunately, I can find no further reference to this Frank Ross; perhaps he returned to Cuba with his wife and son

One possibility is that Angelina and Frank used Ross as an anglicized version of the Spanish surname Ros.

Any thoughts or how to trace Angelina will be appreciated.

I won't have a chance to follow up today for a couple more hours, but yesterday I did some checking on this.

May I suggest you search for Thomas F. Ross b. 1874/1875 NJ, living in Jersey City. I think the "F" stands for Frank. He married Lottie/Charlotte Escheussler(sp) in 1899.

His marriage record says born in Cuba, but censuses say New Jersey with a parent sometimes listed as born in Cuba

I found his obit and other things yesterday, but haven't had a chance to follow up today.

I think his father's name was Frank & mother's Annie? ...trying to remember what I saw yesterday. Check the 1875 or 1885 state census for them.

I agree that Thomas F. Ross is probably the brother; he was called Frank on his first son's birth record.  Shame they can't get it straight about who was born in Cuba and who in New Jersey.

On another note, I wonder if this was her?  The age is right, she was in the US in 1900 and it's only a hop and a skip from Jersey City to Brooklyn.
