1841 Census Leicester-William MARCH
« on: Sunday 04 September 05 09:44 BST (UK) »
Would sks please do a lookup for William MARCH. I have very little information. 1871 census shows him as born abt 1836 in Leicester so he would be abt 5 in 1841. Hoping to identify his family.

In 1871 he was living in Nottingham then disappears off the face of the earth!!

TIA

Thanks for your efforts Mike
I wasn't aware that it is a major production for searching the 1841 census.

I already knew of this family from 1851 census but the 1861 also shows another William MARCH of the right age at Welford Road, age 26 an iron and brass founder which would fit in better with his later occupation as an engineer. I was hoping for something definite in the 1841 i.e. parents brothers and sisters. Looks like I'll have to buy the 1841 census and trawl through. Thanks for trying anyway-I do appreciate it.

Wow Mike
What a star you are. William was six years older than Fanny Isabella so its possible both he and Ann been shipped off to relatives whilst Harriett had the baby.

The marriage date would fit with a birth of William in 1835 or 6 with Ann T the eldest born 1834

The William I'm looking for was well educated and that just didn't fit with him being a FWK from the other March family in Leicester!

Thank you so much for your help.

Not sure if you are still active but William's Sister, Annie Tyler March was my Great great Grandmother.  She married Charles Jones b1834. He was a Public Accountant in 1881. Found  your threads interesting.

I found it strange that William appeared to be living with a 16 year old in 1841 but on looking futher  he was also with Betsy Sanderson. I believe she was his father's Sister, Elizabeth March.

Would love to share any info of the family.

Jeanette

Hello Jeanette-it's a very long time you posted about William March's sister & you're right I wasn't active when you replied. Today is the 1st time I've logged in since 2009. Lack of time for this all-consuming hobby & full time work meant that something had to give. So if you are still around apologies for not replying earlier. Life got in the way.

I still haven't cracked what happened to William-he just disappears from Nottingham between the 1871 & 1881 census. No death records anywhere. William was my great great grandfather.

Belated thanks for your post. I need to organise my records before I start searching as the company that provided my Family Origins software no longer exists so I need to buy new software before I can do anything. Hope you are still around would love to exchange info at some point.
