Edward Maxwell had a marriage Licence 1702 (Huntingdon Archdeaconry Marriage Licences). Can anyone access an original copy of the record and find the detail please. Any help much appreciated

Hello
Only got the transcript I'm afraid
Edward Maxwell bachelor yeoman of Thursley Surrey licence 1.7.1702
Amy Hooker single Thursley
To marry at Frensham or Farnham

It looks like they married at Farnham on 16th bur Amy is now Anne.
But that all seems to be done under the Bishop of Winchester so I'm not sure why it's filed under Huntingdonshire.

Hi Ciderdrinker

You are correct about the Winchester record but the question is why is there a similar record in Huntingdonshire.

Are they they same couple - which seems likely - or are they by some strange co-incidence - a different couple.  Hopefully an inspection of the Huntingdon source document will identify sufficient information to help answer this.

Happy hunting

The images confirm the transcription.

The image for the licence is under 'Allegations for Marriage Licences in Hampshire,' but Boyd's, only a transcription, has it as Huntingdon.

I suspect that they read Hants. as Hunts.
