Robert OLIVER - Margaret RUTHERFORD - 1670s/80s - Jedburgh - Roxburghshire

I descend from a Robert OLIVER, who married a Margaret RUTHERFORD at Denholm, Roxburghshire in 1707. I am attempting to locate his birth/christening record for both of them, however I notice there are several possibilities across the Jedburgh district!

Can anyone please advise the most probable choices for these births?

Unfortunately birth records at Yetholm on SP did not begin until 1690 and no deaths until statutory records began in 1855.

I note the baptisms you mention in Jedburgh, below, the only other in East Lothian in 1676.

For Margaret there are two baptisms in Scotland but quite distant, Dundee & Fife.

There are four baptisms on freereg in Northumberland, the one I like because of the fathers name below.

It looks likely that this Robert married in Northumberland.

The name Oliver with variations does seem strong in Roxburgh, as far as I can see its one of the three below, if Robert was born in Scotland and assuming the record has survived that is.

Between 1672 & 1686 there were seven Thomas marriages in Jedburgh and a large number of children with the father named Thomas, so that will be difficult to resolve.

There was only one Robert marriage in the County, below.

I cannot help with your specific question but I have the same names in my family tree. My great grandparents were Robert Rutherford ( 1829-1890 )and Margaret Storie(1855-1891) Roberts parents were Robert Rutherford  1805 and Elizabeth Oliver 1805.
My grandmother was Helen Rutherford 1876 -1953 who married Samuel Clucas.
Our families originated from Jedburgh.

I wonder if we have any connections at all ??
