I did see a marriage in the Old Parish Register for:

Owen Travers and Rose Colgan
07/09/1834
573/240 111
Paisley Middle

So, wondering if these people connect to Henry?

Monica

Their marriage is also recorded at St Mirin's RC church. Paisley 26-9-1834

This is probably them in 1841:

Guthrie's Close, Dundee

Owen Travers, 25, shoemaker, b. Ireland,
Rosy Travers, 25, b. Ireland,
Mary Ann Travers, 3, b. out of county
Robert Travers, 1, b. out of county

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thank you all for your research, I really appreciate it.

I have contacted all the potential archives in the area, I've contacted Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Glasgow and heard back today from the last of these that they also have no records from this time that might be relevant to me. That's disappointing but I suppose not surprising.

Philip Travers living with an aunt in Neilston in 1851 is intriguing but I don't know how to firm up any connection. It just gets too complicated for me. I guess you might take in a nephew who is of an age to be useful but not one who is still very young. Although Philip's father is obviously Owen and my Henry has James as a father on his death certificate but Unknown on his marriage certificate. Poor wee Henry, just appears aged 3 with no history. Frustrating but there you go

Thanks for all your time
