Handsworth included West Bromwich. (Used to be in Staffordshire before boundary reorganisation.

There is no related thread.

The previous thread has now been deleted with all the information previously found. This is not the first deletion and just causes confusion for people who want to help.

To Rosie99 (moderators giving conflicting messages about deleting / not deleting posts)

Not sure whether GRUBB is correct it might be a cousin in West Bromwich

My George Walter's occupation was an Engineer and he was deceased by the time of his daughter's wedding in 1865 as Post #1 of FreeREG record shows.

I suspect that the Mods may be merging the threads as I can't get into one I was just looking at and copied this from.

I mentioned this in that other thread

It is possible that George mentioned as father on the marriage certificate was made up and that Mary/Mary Ann was illegitimate.  We really need to locate her on census prior to her marriage.

It was quite common to say that the father of an illegitimate child was dead and have a name invented, she would not have had to provide any proof as to the identitiy of her father
