Mary Gameson
« on: Friday 03 June 22 19:41 BST (UK) »
I am trying to puzzle out something sorry it's a bit long. Mary Gameson daughter of John and Jane Gameson in trevethin is a 4xgrt grandmother of mine. John her father has died before the 1851 census and Jane is living with Mary and a David Williams who states, is her brother and is a widower and his two daughters Mary and Margaret. On gro I can only find one of the daughters born in 1837 mothers maiden name Harper. I cannot find a Jane Williams marrying a John Gameson but have found a Jane Brace who is a spinster. How would David Williams be her brother? Jane Brace mother and father were Thomas and Elizabeth. No record of a marriage to a Williams to a Brace, or Harper.
Have I got it totally wrong?

The 1851 shows Jane b 1807 Blaenavon Monmouth but  David Williams was b 1812 Merthyr Glamorgan?

Could he be a brother in law perhaps?

Mary was b 1835

Jane died 1855 aged 47

I did wonder if David was half brother - there's a burial of a Thomas Brace in Blaenavon in 1814 aged 38 (native of St Issels, Pembs). But the dates don;t work

Look at the marriage of John Gameson to Jane Brace 11 July 1829  - page 66
Witnesses are Thomas Phillips and Margaret Gamson (sp)

Same day, same witnesses, William James marries Mary Williams  -- top of page 67

Possibly cousins and related through an earlier generation marriage - Gameson and Williams that is
Scratch that idea.

ADDED
Mary Williams registered 1842 Pontypool, M Quarter Vol 26 page 134 mmn Gameson
Margaret Williams registered Pontypool 1847, J Quarter Vol 26 page 165 mmn Gamson

David Williams married a Gameson female possibly a sister to John making him Jane's brother in law in 1851

I cannot find a marriage of a David Williams to ? Gameson.
Perhaps she was a widow and married under a different name
