nottingham city police - info needed on Thomas Mead
« on: Saturday 04 June 22 10:21 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, i have just found who my true parental family are ( long story 54 years of lies) my great grand father x2 Thomas Mead was in the Nottingham city police.
i would like to find any information on his service in the police the locations of the property he lived in. i live in the same area that he lived in so would like to go tread in his foot step so to speak.
i have found
1901 census - police constable -  12 guildhall cottages, shakespear street, Nottingham.
1911 Sgt of police - 23 westgate street Nottingham,
1921 Sgt of police - the police house mapperley,

i believe i have found the location of the  police house in mapperely. i believe it's 649 woodborough road.

thank you in advance x

Of possible interest, a couple of newspaper items:

"Thomas Mead, 69, Blythe-street Nottingham, inquiry agent and a superannuated police-sergeant" was a witness in a divorce case in 1925
   Monday,  June 29, 1925
Publication: Nottingham Evening Post

and as a witness in another divorce case in 1931 "Mr. Thomas Mead, an ex-police officer, of Blythe-street, Mapperley, Nottingham."
Tuesday,  Feb. 24, 1931
Publication: Nottingham Evening Post

Quite a few mentions of "police sergeant Mead" in the newspapers after about 1910 in Nottingham Evening Post, mostly to do with police work, however there is also this interesting one:
Monday,  Dec. 16, 1918
Publication: Nottingham Evening Post

Happy to send you the others if you're interested.  :)
