Help with O'Doherty
« on: Sunday 26 June 22 18:46 BST (UK) »
Hi
I would appreciate any information on a Denis Finian Aloysius O'Doherty.

The only information I have about Denis is he was born on the 10/12/1920 in County Offaly Ireland.
Denis died in England in 2006.

Thank you for any help.

There is a family tree on Ancestry with Denis's marriage shown as in Preston Registration District in 1952. He seems to have remained in Preston.

I realise this tree may be yours - no father's name given, but you could obtain the marriage certificate to see his father's name if you are wanting to research backwards.

He is on Electoral Rolls in Preston 2003-2007 as being at 8 Lovat Rd Preston.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

his birth:
https://www.rootschat.com/links/01rnh/

parents named as James Edward O Doherty and Elizabeth Dooley. James’ occupation is merchant.

James and Elizabeth marriage cert:
https://www.rootschat.com/links/01rni/

James lived in the townland of Ballycumber and Eliza lived in the townland of Kilcormac. Fathers names and occupations are also listed.

using irishgenealogy.ie and searching in the civil registration district of Birr you should be able to find Eliza and James’ birth.

using census.nationalarchives.ie you should also be able to find them on the 1901 and 1911 censuses presumably living with their parents.

The town was more commonly referred to as Frankford prior to Irish independence.

I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to help me.

I really appreciate all the information you have provided.

I have just started the family tree for my sister-in-law, (with her permission) she sadly very resonantly lost her mother. Denis was her Grandfather.

I have seen the O'Doherty family trees on ancestry, it appears no one else has found info behold Denis so your assistance will help others.

Thanks again :)
