Cyril George WOODING

Hi, I'm new to the chat room so forgive me if I'm not doing this right!!
I have been researching my husbands and my own family tree since 2018.
I cannot for the life of me find anything regarding my father Cyril George Wooding before 1938. He was born on 12/03/1912 but I don't really know where and can't find his birth anywhere. I think he may have been born either in Wales or Herefordshire just going by vague memories from my childhood.
He married Clara Ann Drinkwater in 1938 in Martley Worcestershire. They had two children Desmond and Hazel.
I have tried GRO searching for me but they drew a blank too.
If there is anybody who could help me in anyway I would be sooo grateful.

Hi there and welcome.  Using small letters is fine!

Do you have the marriage certificate for him?  That should name his father and witness names can also be helpful.

One thing to be aware of is we aren't allowed to discuss living or possibly living people so unless you are certain the 2 children you mention have passed away their names should be removed from your post.

Have you found him on the 1921 census.  He may have been illegitimate & his birth registered under a different surname.  If his mother then married Mr Wooding he may have taken that surname.

Maureen's reply above refers - if he did have Wooding siblings it could help find his mothers maiden name

A tree on Ancestry has his father as Mistery Wooding - allegedly 37 when Cyril was born.  No mother shown so I suspect the tree owner means his father is a "mystery"

Is this marriage in the June quarter of 1958 also Cyril?

If so, there are two marriage certificates you could order to compare the details he gave regarding his father. And as well, the witnesses on the first are possibly of use.

I have ordered the marriage certificates for both his marriages. The marriage in June 1958 was to my Mom. The only connection I can make at the moment is that he may have been born to Laura Wooding who didn't marry so the took her name and no father. I tried the Daniel's idea and everything matches as to the year of birth and maybe the correct area. My brain is in knots!
