Yes, we don’t seem to be getting anywhere and I can only reiterate that certificates might be more helpful.
In 1881 5171/11/3
William Clarke has been transcribed as William B but if you look at the census page, it looks like ‘N’. In fact there have been user submissions with corrections to ‘N’ too.

In 1891 4300/115
William Clark has his birthplace as Hensingham. This seems to be in Whitehaven district.
There is a birth December quarter 1861 Whitehaven
William Nevason Clark with no mother’s name.

Did you already have a birth for William?

Have you found the births for Edmund and Elizabeth?

I don’t think I found them.

Sorry about this do you have the dates?
I can see
1863 Edmund Young Whitehaven mmn Walker

There is a William Walker Fearon mmn Walker in 1861 but why would he be Fearon?

Both Elizabeth Youngs b Whitehaven have mother’s names too.

Am I going wrong somewhere?

Unfortunately, that seems to be the only way.

Just for your information -  you might want to note for any future search

September 1863 Whitehaven

Edward (often interchanged with Edmund) Young mmn Clark

I found too a possible Elizabeth Clark through censuses to 1861  but no marriage to Mr Young  :-\
