What has happened to Rootspoint?
« on: Friday 22 July 22 06:10 BST (UK) »
A critical error, it says.
Is there another way in?  A mirror site, perhaps.

I have to say that the transcripts are very poor, which makes searches difficult, but $10 a year is not expensive.

Yes, but that doesn't seem to be a way in to the actual web site,
and in any case is out of date.  I paid $9.99 for the England & Wales censuses, 1841 to 1901.  I could have the 1940 US census and loads of histories of families in the USA if I wanted them, but don't remember seeing anything about BMD records.

Well it works for me. You need to click on whatever you want to look through.

What  are you wanting?  The UK section seems to offer items  free to view in Family Search and some other ftv sites. For BMD, you can use FreeBMD

Add -  it seems to link to www.ongenealogy.com ~

There's a list of eight sets of records, including 1841-1901 census of England & Wales, but they're not clickable.

When I click on the word Rootspoint above that, I get the same message

>> There has been a critical error on this website. <<

as when I go direct to www.rootspoint.com/census-records

What are you doing differently?

I don't believe FamilySearch has images of the census returns, so that's no use to me.  And I don't want BMD records (or not just now).

I'm selecting the country in the right side pull down menu. It then offers what I referred to above.

They seem to have a Facebook page which has recent posts.

https://en-gb.facebook.com/RootsPointInc/

Could you ask on that or contact. It has a Send Message top right.

I am getting the same error when I click on that link. I live in the U.S., I don't know if that matters.

this site works here, https://www.ongenealogy.com/listings/rootspoint/,
but when I click on the link that says "Rootspoint is a subscription website ... " I get the critical error message.

https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/rootspoint.com?proto=http&www=1
says
"Is Rootspoint.com Down?
Checking if rootspoint.com is down or it is just you...
It's not just you! rootspoint.com is down."

They have a Facebook page - see my Reply #6

I've suggested that a message might be sent.
