Betsy Macdonald
« on: Saturday 30 July 22 18:05 BST (UK) »
I’m getting ma heid done in here!
I’m researching family of my great great grandparents, Hugh MacDonald (blacksmith) and his wife, Mary Ann Gray. They had 8 children.I’ve pretty much followed them all, bar one.
Her name is Betsy Macdonald, born 26/7/1878 at Knockbain. She appears in the 1881 and 1891 census, but then disappears.
Nothing in deaths, marriages etc. Tried Find My Past, Scotlands People…nothing!
Anybody got any further info on this family?

Address 5,Great King Street Midlothian for a Alexander Thomson and his wife on the 1901

Just to clarify the birth rosie 17.

The Mountie is quite correct her birth was indeed registered in Knockbain in 1878 but the spelling is McDonald.

The Mountie - Did any of her siblings go abroad and if so could she have joined them? I am not finding a marriage or death for her on SP either using the variations of her surname.

Sorry no help really but keep digging and she may turn up.

Good Luck,

Dorrie

Thanks for looking. I’ve tried every possible combination/variation without success.
Her siblings all remained local, and I’ve pretty much tracked their lives from birth to death.
Betsy however, remains a mystery.

Thanks Dorrie  ;) Mountie have you checked the 1911 census for her parents to see if all children born are alive
