Dowlais or Cwmdu, Samuel George

Trying to find out about my Great Grandfather. Samuel George (b. 1853) married to Catherine Davies (B.1862). They appear in the 1901 and 1911 censuses in Cwmdu, Bridgend. Samuel was born in Dowlais according to the 1911 census. Can't find any record of their marriage, and no records of Samuel George being born in Dowlais. Any help most appreciated.

1901 - There is a 15yr age gap between eldest daughter Kate & son David.  1911 shows 35yrs (1875/6)  married but Catherine b 1862 would only have been 14

1911 - 12 children born but 9 died - can't see an 1881 or 1891 for the family
