A marriage lookup please
« on: Monday 08 August 22 19:23 BST (UK) »
I have from the IGI a marriage-

2 Jan 1842 at Hamilton

David ARTHUR to Cecilia Grant McINTOSH

I am particularly interested in the father/parents/age/occupation of David ARTHUR.  Can anyone help please?

Thanks :)
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Thanks :)

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the 1855 business.  I think my further enquiries may be elsewhere.

My chances of him being my missing David ARTHUR are very slim anyway and my interests relate to the years before this 1842 marriage.

if he died in Scotland 1855 or later, the SP death cert would most likely  give parents names and occupations.

Was the David Arthur you are looking for a Free church minster. Did he have a son John Arthur who went on to become a Dr.

Thanks, good point. He died in 1890, a much lauded Congregational Minister.  Perhaps I'll throw a few pennies in the direction of SP. Long time since I've been there.

Thanks folks! :)

I'll post more of the story tomorrow.  Perhaps someone will be able to come up with ideas.

If he died in 1890 - there are 2 1890 deaths on SP for David Arthur.  One aged 80 & the other 83
Mothers maiden names shown on both
